What can Alzheimer’s disease do to you? The truth

What can Alzheimer’s disease do to you? This is the question we received yesterday from a woman whose mother has been diagnosed with the illness. It is a very scary thing when one first hears that a loved one is being afflicted with the disease, the thought that you will become unrecognizable to a person who knew you your whole life is very discouraging.  In this post, “what can Alzheimer’s disease do to you” we will discuss how the illness can change a family forever.

In discussing the way in which the disease can dramatically change a family, there was a recent story which focused on how the illness affected one particular family, it was quite revealing.  While memory loss is the most well known aspect of the disease, there are many other complications which can appear, diminished mental functioning causes personality changes. S. Morris from Lancaster County discovered the challenges of the illness when her husband became a person with Alzheimer's at the very young age of only 46. What can Alzheimer’s disease do to you? It can change you completely.

She admits to dealing with many physical and spatial issues that became apparent early on.

“It started out slowly with little things here and there that did not add up.

I noticed even when he was still teaching he was having trouble getting dressed - miss a belt loop - miss buttoning a shirt," said S. Morris.

Dementia slowly takes over the brain, the changes can cause a person to become angry, irritable, depressed, or worst. As time goes by conditions become worst.

The brain is an incredible organ and it has a remarkable ability to heal when put in the right nutritional environment. It is crucial that a person with the disease do something, the illness progresses to worsening stages.  The vast majority of people are not aware that much of the affects of dementia can be reversed with the precise combination of natural ingredients; this was revealed in a recent study from the University of California Berkley.

Mal Alzheimer has been showing people for over 5 years that the synergy affect which is created by using the correct balance of precise nutritional substance can reverse much of the negative affects of dementia; this has been revealed in over 10 countries.  What can Alzheimer’s disease do to you? It can literally change a person into complete other personality, but it is clear that much can be done to reverse these affects.

Help Early Onset Alzheimer's: What to do about it

Early onset Alzheimer's disease is a very serious sign of cognitive decline, this condition is increasing worldwide, a new study from England highlights how the rise of this brain robbing condition is affecting the financial and emotional well being of millions. Please understand time is not your side with this disease, it is very important to seek help for early onset Alzheimer's disease as this is a progressive illness which causes more extreme loss of mental facilities as time goes by.

Are you prepared?

According to a study from ADI (Alzheimer Disease International) 44 million people live with the disease, but that figure will increase to a staggering 135 million in the next few decades; we are speaking of countless millions of families that will have to deal with the emotional and financial strain of the disease. Anyone who has lived with or who has had to take care of a loved one with the illness can understand the tremendous amount of strain that is placed on the family. Dementia (serious deterioration in mental functions, such as memory, language, orientation and judgment ) is one of the more challenging illnesses in the world which often leads to significant numbers of caregivers who burnout. The help for early onset Alzheimer's starts in the family, there is much that can be done to slow down this illness!

Jeremy Hughes, chief executive of the UK's Alzheimer' Society, said: "Dementia is fast becoming the biggest health and social care challenge of this generation.
"We must tackle dementia now, for those currently living with the condition across the world and for those millions who will develop dementia in the future.
For over 5 years this website Mal Alzheimer has sounded the alarm that it is crucial to get involved in reversing your own mental decline and this is shown to be scientifically possible. The disease has been shown to halt and even reverse when a combination of natural substances are administered. The billion pharmaceutical companies will never publish this and have held a choke hold on a cure by dismissing natural substances which have been shown to stop the mental decline; it is documented to IMPROVE patient mood, memory and behavior. There is help for early onset Alzheimer's disease.

It is crucial to anyone with this illness that they understand the politics (money) behind the FDA and the Drug makers, this is a money making partnership that profits over $$300 billion dollars a year in medication dispensing.
Natural substances which are shown to help your family are not funded because a pharmaceutical company is not allow to profit from a natural substance. (that one sentence describes the condition of healthcare in the United States.

Sadly people are not treated because there is no profit for the drug company, do not sit back and wait for this illness to steal your independence; it is important to actively seek to save your own brain.

We have show people in over 10 countries over the last 5 years how to naturally halt the disease progression with a specialized combination of natural ingredients available today , this is the number one natural website that scientifically gives you a chance to fight back against the illness. Help for early onset Alzheimer’s disease means freedom and independence.

What is Dementia with Lewy bodies? What can help

What is Dementia with lewy bodies? This is an illness very similar to Alzheimer's disease, there are almost 2 million people in the United States who suffer from the disease. In this post we will try to explain exactly how this illness effects the brain. Most people are familiar with how an Alzheimer patient may lose memory but not as many are aware of what dementia with lewy bodies is and how it effects the brain.

Protein on the brain

Lewy bodies are actually a buildup of a protein called alphasynuclein, though the reason that these protein aggregations form in some brain cells. What most people are not aware of is that these proteins cannot be observed by the naked eye, it is not only until a person has passed away that an autopsy can reveal these proteins under a microscope. Alphasynuclein protein build up in the brain can have some very horrible consequences on the patient, the illness is strongly associated with the tremors and difficult muscle movements with Parkinson’s disease. Dementia with Lewy bodies can be explained non-medically as a common memory loss illness with a brain build up of a protein which effects body movement (It should be noted that this illness can cause delusions and hallucinations but we will explore this in a later post).

What to do

The brain has an incredible ability to heal when it is put in the correct healing environment, meditation studies have shown that the brain can indeed heal even in situations where medications have been of little help. Lewybody dementias are associated with reductions in important brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including dopamine and acetylcholine, medications have failed to address this but natural therapies has helped. Unfortunately natural therapies which have been shown to address the brain chemical imbalances from dementias do not receive funding, we are forced to rely on big pharma and their quest for a billion dollar profit drug. It important to explore all healing options when seeking to reversed dementias, never give up or wait on big pharma medications. Medications should be just one tool in fighting Dementia with lewy bodies.

Quality of life can improve and memory can be restored even in advanced cases, waiting and doing nothing allows the brain plaques to accumulate and the Tau Tangles to increase, dealing with brain diseases must mean fighting back. The brain is begging for activation even in the most advance cases of Alzheimer’s disease, many meditations have proven this.

An understanding of what dementia with lewy bodies really is has shown us that much can be achieved without the use of pharmaceutical drugs; we have demonstrated this in over 10 countries.

I am losing my memory: Why more people are suffering

I am losing my memory

There is a crisis which has been developing in much of the Western world, there is an alarming increase in Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia cases in younger people. Early onset Alzheimer’s disease is on the increase according to a new study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Around 40,000 people in Ireland have dementia and, for some, loss of mental functions is happening before 50 years. We received a letter from a woman stating “I am losing my memory“,  she is seeking help. Do not take declining mental faculties causally;  it is also important to realize that this is a growing worldwide epidemic which must be treated early to avoid progressively serious complications.

What is happening to our brains?

The United States and Europe recently revealed startling health reports showing increases in the number (and projected number) of Alzheimer’s disease cases.  According to a study by the National Health Society and published by the National End of Life Care Intelligence Network in England, a soaring number of people will die in nursing homes with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.  The increase in England is projected to rise by 72%, to an estimated 1,055,000 people within the next 2 decades!

In response to the email we received where the mailer revealed her situation very plainly, “I am losing my memory”, the Center of Disease Control concludes loss of mental function is occurring at an alarming in the USA.

In the United States, the increasing number of Alzheimer’s cases was cited by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 5.2 million Americans have Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia and this is increasing rapidly. The number of people with dementia will jump to 13.8 million by 2050 the CDC report predicts. Mal Alzheimer researchers have concluded that the number one cause of the increase in dementia in young and old is inflammation, inflammatory related brain disorders from processed foods are spreading worldwide.

Inflammation related dementia from processed foods is the true cause of the increasing dementia epidemic.  This can only be reversed with a targeted diet of precise nutrition for the brain. The exact combination of natural ingredients work together to cause a synergy affect reversing the damaging affects of Alzheimer's disease.

Getting your full brain function back

I am losing my memory: This is the only site (now used in 10 countries) revealing how to fight back and   reverse dementia, memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease naturally with targeted nutrition combinations, this is what has worked for thousands.

People have reversed Alzheimer’s disease even in middle late stages by using a specialized diet proven to reverse Alzheimer’s plaques.
How to reverse Alzheimer's disease?  Timing is crucial to the reversal of the illness, each day the plaques and tau tangles do considerable damage to the precious brain white matter, those who wait risk losing more brain function as mental decline is progressive.

The reversal of the dementia symptoms can be achieved without pharmaceutical drugs; we have demonstrated this in over 10 countries.

What can help prevent Alzheimer's? Don't rely on others

What can really help prevent Alzheimer's disease? This site is number one in Europe and South America because the reader is educated on dementia and learns how to arrest the illness. Relying on health care facilities for dementia care can be a very risking endeavor, a new documentary film yesterday highlighted the dangers of one nursing home faculty which specializes in helping those with memory loss. What can help prevent Alzheimer's disease is a very important question, those who suffer from the illness risk a loss of independence which in some cases can be deadly.

The frontline documentary which was aired on PBS revealed very startling revelations about Seattle-based Emeritus, the nation’s largest operator of assisted-living communities, the program highlighted the disturbing and preventable deaths of several residents with dementia. There have been many more cases in the United States which have revealed the horrible treatment so many dementia patients receive in various facilities Nationwide. We have revealed on this site that much of dementia can be reversed even in late stages when the brain receives the correct combination of natural healing ingredients. The brain has a remarkable ability to heal when put in the correct atmosphere for healing. Knowing what can help prevent Alzheimer's disease is crucial to arresting the progression of the illness. In regards to the Emeritus nursing faculty the Frontline film reported.

A lot of people don’t realize the regulations are incredibly lax,” he says in an interview. “In California you only need 40 hours of training to run one of these.” said A.C. Thompson, the “Frontline” reporter.
Because nursing homes get federal money, “there’s a whole world of federal regulations that provide a baseline on how they should be run,” he says. “When you come over to this world, there’s none of that.”

This year a jury awarded $23 million punitive damage award against Emeritus, which the jury three days earlier had already found guilty of malice, oppression and fraud in the death of Joan Boice.
Joan Boice who was suffering from Dementia arrived at Emeritus at Emerald Hills in Auburn in September 2008. By the time she left in December, she had developed bedsores. She died three months after moving out, with the sores listed as a significant condition leading to her death.

We have urged our thousands of readers to tackle Dementia before it starts, the illness starts 20 years before the first signs of memory loss. The illness is rapidly increasing and is starting to effect more people at younger ages, much of this increase is related to food chemicals and environmental pollutants. What can help prevent Alzheimer's disease? The reversal of of the illness can be achieved without pharmaceutical drugs, we have demonstrated this in over 10 countries. Can Alzheimer's disease be prevented? Yes, what you must know

A new study highlights what thousands who read this site already know, Alzheimer's can be prevented. When the brain is put in the right healing environment dementia can be reversed, according to the Center for Disease Control there is a tsunami of new dementia cases on the horizon, it is crucial to protect your brain from the damaging effects of our modern lifestyle. Researchers are seeing more younger people suffering for dementia, the lost of independence is the greatest tragedy of the illness. Alzheimer's disease can be prevented when the brain is given the necessary tools to fight the illness, we have proven this in 10 countries.

The loss of independence

The greatest challenge to living with Dementia is the loss of independence, many sufferers must rely on others for the simplest of tasks such as brushing their teeth or even feeding themselves; the loss of independence is a very humbling experience. A new study in a very small way highlights what we has revealed on this site, dementia can be reversed when the brain is given the right tools, this very bold statement is supported by our many users in Europe and South America. A study at INSERM, the French government's health research agency touched on the ability of the brain to hold off Dementia. "For each additional year of work, the risk of getting dementia is reduced by 3.2%," said Carole Dufouil,

Nearly 3% had developed dementia but the risk of this was lower for each year of age at retirement. Someone who retired at 65 had about a 15% lower risk of developing dementia compared to someone retiring at 60, after other factors that affect those odds were taken into account, Dufouil said
The reason for the drop is not because of “work” but it is a sign that the brain of an older person can be retrained and fight illness

This is the number one website in the world for the reversal of Alzheimer's disease for the last 4 years in Europe and South America, we have shown that a special combinations of natural ingredients has reversed Dementia in thousands worldwide. Can Alzheimer's disease be prevented? Yes, the illness can also be reversed, it is a reversible illness when the brain is given what it needs naturally. Sadly people with dementia often give up and many believe the lie that the illness cannot be reversed. Thousands have reversed dementia with a specialized diet in over 10 countries

Dementia will be worst than AIDS confirms Brain Researcher

In a stunning revelation researchers at CHUV University Hospital in Lausanne, confessed that dementia will effect more people in a more horrible way than the AIDS virus. There is a coming wave of Alzheimer’s disease cases that will affect millions of people within the next decade, the illness is attacking more and more younger people as well.

According to the Center for Disease Control 5.2 million Americans have Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia. Those numbers will jump to 13.8 million in the next 2 decades, this is a conservatives estimate, previous estimates are higher and predict a "silver tsunami" of 16 million cases, driven in part by baby boomers who have started to reach age 65 in recent years. Alzheimer's disease starts many years before the first signs of the illness, often more than 20 years before the start of memory loss there are brain plaques which accumulate and start the process of mental degeneration. It is crucial to protect yourself from the illness before the first signs appear.

Bigger crisis than AIDS

According to Prof. Richard Frackowiak, the director of the department of clinical neuroscience and head of the neurology service at CHUV University Hospital in Lausanne and co-director of the Blue Brain Project, we have a full crisis in the making.

Dementia is a disease that is going to be like a plague in our aging population,” said Frackowiak. “It’s going to be worse than AIDS - much worse, economically, personally each of you undoubtedly has someone who is already losing their condition or developing some other neurological disorder.”

Mal Alzheimer's is the number one diet in the world to stop dementia, people in over 10 countries have used the Mal Alzheimer's diet to reverse even the most stubborn cases of the illness. Alzheimer's disease can be reversed this has been proven in hundreds of studies.

Losing your Memory is a warning sign

Many more people are losing memory, there has been an incredible rise in dementia cases worldwide and this is problem is directly related to other health complications. When there is a problem “recalling” it often signals other health problems, for example diabetes, obesity and heart failure are all linked to Alzheimer's disease. When a person notices difficulties with recalling it is important not to ignore the condition. Signs of losing your memory can be the beginnings of Alzheimer's disease

Younger people effected

The numbers of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease is growing, younger people are being afflicted. Dr. Paul Thompson, a UCLA professor of neurology. Doctors are shoing the process starts earlier than they once believed.

"Alzheimer's has traditionally been considered a disease marked by neuronal cell loss and widespread gray matter atrophy," Thompson said "But degeneration of myelin in white matter fiber pathways is more and more being considered a key disease component and another possible pathway to the disease, and this discovery supports that."

What this means is that Alzheimer's disease may start a lot earlier than we once believed, it progresses in the brain before any symptoms appear. Many more younger people already have the beginning of the illness, if you are losing your memory, it is important to address the condition. The researchers showed that the process of developing Alzheimer's may start very early, every one should be on a brain protection diet.

The numbers of people suffering from dementia are increasing worldwide, it is projected that many more millions will be affected in the next 20 years. it is important to protect yourself for the illness before it starts. Once symptoms appear the illness is harder to reverse, Alzheimer's is an illness that progresses in stages, with the last stage described as the most difficult to reverse. What is the best Exercise for Alzheimer's

In addition to a very targeted diet the best exercise to prevent against Alzheimer's disease is aerobic exercises, there is a change in the body and brain chemistry when people do these kinds of exercises. Dementia is increasing worldwide, we are in fact in the middle of an epidemic in regards to the numbers of people who are being effected by the illness. Researchers have shown that exercise is one of the best way to protect against Alzheimer's disease.

What exercises are best against Dementia?

Researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System tested the effects of aerobic training with 33 women and men diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, this is often the beginnings of dementia.

The exercises of choice were a treadmill and a stationary bike, this was to be used four days a week for a little more than 30 minutes a day. In comparison the researchers had another set of people do weightlifting and balancing exercises. The researchers conclusion was that after six months the aerobic exercisers increased in mental ability while the weightlifting group continued to lose mental agility. The best exercises for Alzheimer's disease are walking exercises. There is no need for a gym membership or expensive equipment  walking( with a little speed) for half and hour 4 days a week should help the brain.

The way to reverse the illness

Exercise will not cause reversal of Alzheimer's disease in people who have already been deeply effected by the illness, the way to reverse the illness in those deeply effected it with a very targeted diet. We at Mal Alzheimer's have shown people in over 7 countries how to reverse the effects of Dementia by using a very targeted diet that addresses the formation of Tau tangles and Amyloid plaques, this can do amazing things in the brain. The brain has an incredible ability to heal when put in the right healing environment. An Alzheimer's diagnoses is not a time to sit and ponder, a target diet can reverse the effects of the illness more than any exercise.

Depressed Alzheimer's Disease: Are you being ignored?

Can Alzheimer's disease leave you feeling depressed? the answer is yes according to mental health officials in Holland. There are over 5 million people in the United States who suffer from this horrible brain robbing illness and the numbers are increasing rapidly, according to the Center of Disease Control (CDC) the numbers of people suffering will double in a decade. What is not often discussed is that there are many seniors living depressed with Alzheimer's but are not getting the help that they need.

Suffering in silence?

Due to the nature of the illness it is quite possible for a person with the illness to not have their emotional needs met, for a dementia sufferer it can be very depressing to lose the independence that they once had and this can lead to deep depression. Often we accept depression in dementia sufferers as a normal part of this debilitating condition and this can cause people to be left untreated. We cannot simply accept sadness and depression as a normal development from the illness, if the depression is not addressed it can lead to an increased loss of mental capabilities. Living in depression is not really living.

Can anti depressants help?

It is rare for a depressed Alzheimer's patient to be prescribed anti depressants, usually they are relegated to “Live” with the depression. How often do we ask a person with Alzheimer's disease if they are depressed?

Are you being heard?

It is a sad and unfortunate fact that in the West many seniors needs are frequently not heard, when it comes to their feelings we do not really “listen” to how they say they are feeling, in many cases the adult children become the parent to their parents but are these adult children really listening? Are we really listen to the needs of the Alzheimer's sufferer? Are they depressed and do they need help? The loss of independence is the worst part of the illness, and this can be the root cause of the depression. How to reverse Alzheimer's Disease? What the drug makers don't tell you

When we first showed how to reverse Alzheimer's disease back in 2006 our research was new, a very specialized diet is the key reversing the illness, we are not speaking of a “good diet” but a very targeted diet scientifically proven to restore memory, this diet has now be used in over 10 countries. It is also important to know the role that stress plays in Alzheimer's disease, how to reverse the illness can touch on many areas but the area of stress is very interesting

What does stress have to do with the brain

Stress hormones were shown in studies to rapidly increase the formation of brain lesions that are the well known signs of Alzheimer’s disease, what surprised researchers was how fast the Amyloid plaques and tau tangles formed under stressful conditions, this was shown in even the youngest of lab animals. These plaques and tau tangles are the reason you or your loved ones lose much of the brain functioning with Alzheimer’s or dementia. When we showed how to reverse the illness in University studies the Tau tangles and Amyloid plaques were shown to be arrested under a specialized diet.

More on Stress

In a study with genetically altered mice, Prof LaFerla, professor of neurobiology and behavior, and a team of UCI researchers found that when young animals were injected for just seven days with dexamethasone, a glucocorticoid similar to the body’s stress hormones, the levels of the protein beta-amyloid in the brain increased by 60 percent. This is a remarkable amount of beta- amyloid increase in the brain, in our very stressful modern living it is clear that the brain can be effected.

How to reverse Alzheimer's disease, timing is crucial to the reversal of the illness, each day the plaques and tau tangles do considerable damage to the precious brain white matter, those who wait risk losing more brain function. The reversal of of the illness can be achieved without pharmaceutical drugs, we have demonstrated this in over 10 countries., Click the blue brain at the top of this page and learn how to reverse the damaging effects of the illness naturally. What to do about Alzheimer's Disease: Senior home suffering

Many are wondering what to do about Alzheimer's as the numbers of people with the illness are soaring high n the UK and the United States. What is equally alarming is that a state report from England shows that nursing home patients with dementia are suffering from depression and are experiencing a very low quality of life. With the numbers of people the disease increasing what to do about Alzheimer's has many people perplexed

The low quality of life

The Alzheimer Society charity said that while excellent care exists, less than 50% of the 322,000 sufferers in care homes across the UK have a good quality of life.

Jeremy Hughes, chief executive of the Alzheimer Society, said: “When you walk into an excellent care home it’s full of warmth, activities and interaction. But between these best examples and the worst, which often dominate headlines, there is a forgotten scandal of people with dementia who are failed and left living a life that can only be described as ‘OK’

What to do about Alzheimer's disease

This is a very debilitating illness, it steals more than just the memory it steals the quality of life. The situation described in the majority of nursing homes is really a horrible situation, these patients are barely surviving. These are our loved ones who have lived, worked, loved and now they are in need of our help. Sadly so many are allowing this illness take its course and do more damage to the precious brain cells, it is important to attack this illness hard and swift. It is the purpose of this site to bring back full brain function in those effected. What to do about Alzheimer's disease? We have researched the illness for over 5 years and you must strike hard back the the illness and the brain can revive. Much of the illness can be reversed

I am Depressed: What does Dementia have to do with it

There is a link between dementia and depression, researchers today spoke of the growing cases of depressed elderly people. Alzheimer's cases are expected to triple in the next 25 years, this will create a tremendous burden on families trying to cope with the declining mental health of their loved ones. The increasing numbers of seniors suffering from depression is causes more dementia case. The problem is very prevalent in nursing homes.

The rise in clinical depression

Denise Kirschbaum of James City County Social Services and Deborah LeCalm of Colonial Behavioral Health,  "Depression is not a normal part of aging," LeCalm said. "As individuals get older, they are not addressing their issues with mental health. Mental health is a major problem. It is estimated that sixty-five to ninety percent of nursing home residents have problems with mental health." This is an incredible number of people who are simply not happy. We have accepted a depressive state as a natural course in the aging process and this should not the case. Depression causes changes in the brain, in seniors loneliness can be a strong predictor dementia

Senior homes are not always the best environment for mental stimulation, although the activities may be good and helpful it does not compare to a loving family but his is not always possible in many situations. Many of us do not have the resources to care for a person suffering form dementia or depression. Alzheimer's is a progressive illness that effects the brain's  white and gray matter, time is critical to save much of the brain. LeCalm states that many seniors do not report their depression and accept it as part of their growing old. Do not give up on the brain, there is still time to reverse dementia and Alzheimer's when the brain is put in the right healing environment. We believe it is possible to reverse the illness with an aggressive targeted diet that address the areas of the brain. This can save you from Dementia and Alzheimer's. Why a targeted diet for Dementia is better than a good diet

A good diet for dementia is not the same thing as a targeted one. This week there was much news about green tea being good for Alzheimer's disease, unfortunately these stories are more newspaper hype than reality. With the brain robbing illnesses increasing worldwide many are seeking ways to fight back. Researchers have shown that a targeted diet for dementia is better than a good diet.

Green tea? Why this tea will not help Alzheimer's disease

Green tea is consumed worldwide and particularly in Asian countries, the substance in green tea called Egcg is widely studied and many believe that it can help reverse Alzheimer's disease but there is a huge problem. The egcg does not cross the blood brain barrier, in other words it cannot reach the brain cells that are in need of help. Why do the green tea studies work in a laboratory? Researchers isolate the Alzheimer's cells and put it in a dish, they then add egcg isolated from green tea. When they see a change(or reversal) in the Alzheimer's cells they conclude that green tea can help fight the illness. This does not work when it comes to the human brain, this may work in a dish but the human brain has a barrier and it is very selective about what it allows to cross that barrier. Green tea's egcg does not cross the brain blood barrier. Green tea may be a part of a good menu but it will not help in the diet for dementia

Researchers in Italy showed that green tea does not pass into the brain cells, the abstract from the study is below

Following acute ingestion of green tea by six human subjects, HPLC-MS2 analysis revealed that flavan-3-ol methyl, glucuronide and sulfate metabolites appeared in the bloodstream but did not pass through the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier.

The Italian study above showed that green tea did not pass through the brain barrier but was in the bloodstream, green tea may be good for the body but does not help the brain directly. We have researched this illness in over 5 countries and we can tell you that much can be done to reverse the illness but the diet for dementia must be targeted and based on good science. Green may be good for you but so far it does not help Alzheimer's disease. What can help? Nutrients that pass the Brain Blood Barrier can reverse the illness

Deep brain stimulation to reverse dementia? Maybe not

In an attempt to reverse dementia researchers at the University of Toronto have tested a procedure called deep brain stimulation to help “jump start” the memory of people who have been affected by Alzheimer's disease. The brain robbing illness is growing in the United States, Canada, Australia and much of Europe. Many are hoping and looking for ways to reverse dementia. In attempting to solve the puzzle of Alzheimer's disease, drug-makers are using drugs targeting Amyloid plaques and they have been largely disappointed with the drug results.

Brain Stimulation?

Brain stimulation is not new, it has been used for many years by patients suffering form Parkinson’s disease. But what the Alzheimer's researchers are attempting to do in very simple terms is to have electrical impulses sent to very specific parts of the brain. It is being called a “brain pacemaker” as the tiny electrodes will deliver electrical pulses around the brain memory circuit. What they focuses on was glucose, the researchers observed roughly a 15 to 20 percent increase in glucose metabolism after one year of continuous stimulation. Glucose metabolism usually decreases in Alzheimer's disease. While interesting a 15% increase in glucose can be achieved with a very, very specific Alzheimer's diet. In addition patients also must have two small holes drilled into their skulls to have the the electrodes implanted, the side effects from those who have had the procedure for Parkinson’s disease has been seizures, bleeding, speech difficult and even suicide.

Not a lobotomy?

Although Deep brain stimulation is not a lobotomy it does parallel a lobotomy  in some respects in that researchers want to go “into the brain” to fix your problem. As late as the 1960's people had horrible lobotomies ( brain surgery to remove schizophrenia and other mental illness, these practices are now outlawed) Mal Alzheimer's 100% rejects deep brain stimulation because studies have shown that the brain can heal with a very, very specific diet. When the brain is put in the right environment for healing it can do amazing things. The Toronto researchers tested an incredibly small number of people (only). The stimulation did effect glucose but this in no way can be said to be a way to reverse dementia. We do not believe anyone should have to go into the brain to stop Alzheimer's disease.

Dementia Fear, what to do and what to look for

The fear of dementia should be real, the illness can do some very horrible things to the brain. One of the greatest worries when dealing with this illness is the dangerous effects on the life of the person suffering with the illness. One of the greatest worries which we will tackle in this post will deal with wandering. This is a very real problem and a fear of dementia that many will have to one day confront.

It is common to read in the newspapers about an Alzheimer's sufferer who is lost, the person may have left their home or wondered out of a nursing home. This is a very unsettling situation and one that I have experienced first hand. A few years ago a woman who was in her early 70's was on the bus and she told me she had been lost for over 2 hours. My friend and I tried to help her with directions. We had a great little conversation with her and she was wonderfully nice. She agreed to ride with us for the whole 20 minute ride. After speaking with her for about 10 minutes we could see that this very pleasant and friendly woman had a problem. She started rambling about her husband and other things that showed classical signs of Alzheimer’s disease. This is the great dementia fear, to be lost and totally confused.

The woman turned from us and started speaking with a young family, suddenly the woman hops of the bus and started going in a completely different direction. It was too late for us to do anything and the situation happened so fast that it took us all quite a few minutes before we recognized that we were actually with a lost dementia patient. What a fear for so many families. The experience does show us some amazing things about the illness, often the suffer seems quite normal and then they will say something that is really off. For example, they may think John F Kennedy is still the President of the United States. This is why it is critical to attack and protect from this illness as quickly as possible. We should all fear dementia and do something about it before the brain is affected.

This site has been set up because we believe and have seen in our research that a very specific diet combination can reverse much the illness. We have seen this and urge you to protect your brain. Learn the signs of the illness and be one guard because many with this illness do wander into the streets. A we are more aware of the illness we will be able to help more people like the lady on the bus.

Depression and Dementia: are you missing the sign?

A study by the University of Amsterdam concluded that Depression and Dementia are in fact linked. This is something this website Mal Alzheimer has reported on in the past. We are seeing a heavy increase in the numbers of people who are suffering from both of these illnesses. Depression and Dementia are very strong diseases that effect the brain, it is extremely important to have both of these illness controlled.

The brain when depression

Those who are clinically depression suffer the inability to function on a daily basis without the use of anti-depressants. The use of drugs is often necessary for some people to carry out the daily functions that most of us take for granted. Most anti-depressants increase the amount of serotonin in the brain and this can help treat many depressive conditions. Many depressed people have a low level of serotonin in the brain thus the need for anti-depressants or serotonin up-lifters. What about dementia and depression? What is the common linking of the two illnesses?

Which came first?

Edo Richard, M.D., Ph.D., of the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and colleagues evaluated the association of late-life depression with MCI and dementia in a group of 2,160 community-dwelling Medicare recipients.

"Our finding that depression was associated cross sectionally with both MCI and dementia and longitudinally only with dementia suggests that depression develops with the transition from normal cognition to dementia," the researcher added.

The Amsterdam study shows clearly that depression was one of the signs of early Alzheimer's. What they concluded was that being depressed was an indication of possibly having Alzheimer's disease similar to the common memory loss. What this shows is that a depressed elderly person may also have an un-diagnosed Alzheimer's; what may strengthen this conclusion is another study from the USA

A new study in California showed the same depression dementia link The study from Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research showed that depressed people in there 40's or 50's did not have an increase in Alzheimer's disease but seniors did.

"It's quite clear depression late in life can be an early sign of Alzheimer's," explained Rachel Whitmer, a study researcher and an investigator at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research.

We must watch clearly for signs of depression in our seniors, this may be a sign of brain problems. We must be more attentive to how they are truly feeling.

What we can conclude from these studies is that a depressed senior can be a very dangerous thing to their brain and a sign of Dementia. Watch carefully for yourself or loved one

Do I have Alzheimer's Disease? Signs

A patient recently asked “ Do I have Alzheimer's disease” to her doctor. The story was covered in a California newspaper. The woman felt that she may have the beginnings of the illness because she was forgetting many things. She is only in her 40's but could not understand why her memory was becoming so bad. Do I have Alzheimer's disease was the question she asked and doctors tried a very experimental procedure

A costly procedure that can cause problems

The use of a PET scanner and a fluid that can bind to Amyloid( Dementia plaque ) was given to the woman. The test showed that she did not have the illness but it also opened up a very touchy subject. One gentleman planned to take his own life if the test showed that he had the beginnings of the illness. His planned suicide letter was found after his test. This PET scanner test can be a very risky procedure because it can show that the illness has started and all will get worst. This is a terrible way to look at Alzheimer's disease. This illness is not a death sentence. Dementia can be reversed and we have seen this in our research. Do I have Alzheimer's disease should be a question that is asked so that you can fight back not give up.

There is a problem with early testing for any disease, these test often give you a false positive. Early test often find things that the body eventually repairs on its own.

The New York Times reported that mammograms for breast cancer were largely overused and not accurate. They went as far as showing that most mammograms are not needed. The reason for this( to speak in very basic language) is that cells are constantly changing from bad cells to good cells. There is a daily battle in the human body.  It is common for a doctor to say “We found something” when you take a test.
This is not to ignore testing but often you can find something in any person if you look hard enough.

I am not saying that early testing can not save some lives but early testing also causes alarm and many false positives. Do I have Alzheimer's disease? If you do, you can restore back the memory. Don't give up on the brain

Caregiver burnout from a difficult or mean Alzheimer's patient

“I am burned out from caring for a patient with Alzheimer's disease(dementia)”. This can be a common complaint from a caregiver and it is something that must be addressed. This illness is very labor-some to many and it is because of the very nature of the illness. A patient's symptoms may almost exhibit the behavior of a rude child. Caregivers who are burnt out often state that the patient is not trying to help themselves. Is this so? It may or may not be

The Illness or the Attitude

Jean from England states that her patient and friend can do more but has become depend on her for everything. This is a very tricky situation and it really depends on the patient. Some may become “lazy” or dependent on the caregiver to the point where they stop trying to help themselves. I am speaking very broad here as all situations are different. This type of patient in many ways has given up to the illness and that is the wrong approach. A caregiver can experience burnout from caring for an Alzheimer's patient. Dementia is a serious illness and often the person suffering is actual physically weak or mentally confused so you must really know the patient.

What helps in Jean's situation is that she really knows the patient who is also a friend, this can be an incredible help. Is the patient really rude, cranky, or just having a bad day? Is it the illness causing the attitude? The answers to these questions lie in knowing your patient. The patient may be your grandmother or mother, this is good because you usually know them best. Always exercise compassion and long-suffering with difficult people, take a walk outside, go shopping and give yourself a long break. Care giver burnout is common, please know that this illness can make you sick (stressed out) if you do not find a balance. A break from the patient and Caregiver may help both parties. The bottom line is to know the patient well enough to determine if it is illness or attitude.

Should I tell my Mother that she has dementia?

Should you tell your mother she may have dementia? To tell or not to tell is often a difficult question when one first notices that their loved one may have the beginning of Alzheimer’s disease. The reason for this concern is because of the nature of the illness, this illness still comes with many taboos. Speaking to a Mother,Father or loved one may be seen as “embarrassing” or disrespectful to the person with the illness.

Memory loss and our society

As much as illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, or heart disease are horrible they still may not carry the stigma of memory loss. Memory loss is a very personal issue in that it is so much of who we really are. It is a shame to think we may never remember a wedding night or a honeymoon, it is a horrible thought to think that your very own Father may not remember who you are, this is the reality of this illness. Should you tell your Mother that she may have dementia? It can be a very embarrassing situation to the person telling and the person who has to receive the news.

Is it or isn't it

First, it is important to know if it really is Alzheimer's disease or isn’t it. Many different things cause memory loss and the brain is also very tricky in that memory can return. Just because an older person losses some memory does not mean it is Alzheimer's disease but it does mean you should protect against the illness quickly. There are many young people who cannot remember where they put their keys or where they parked the car, in these circumstances we do not think it is Alzheimer's but in an older person it is the first thing we often believe. Should you to tell your mother of loved one that they may have dementia.? Do not assume that they do have Alzheimer's, it may be a simple slip of the memory that we all experience., it iis important to be sure before you confront someone. The illness is increasing worldwide at a scary rate, it is crucial to protect your loved ones before the damage begins. This illness is easiest to treat in the earliest stages, it is important to protect the brain before the damage sets in. If you are seeing signs of the illness do not wait, much of the illness can be reversed when caught in time. A targeted diet that naturally puts the brain in a healing environment has been shown to reverse the illness.   See here Specialized Dementia diet
