What to do about dementia cost

It is not because of drugs(medication) but the cost of dementia is staggering according to a report by the New England Journal of Medicine released today, the United States spends more on treating the illness than any other disease including cancer and heart disease. This is a punishing illness physically, mentally and financially. The cost of an adult with the illness is now an amazing $50,000 dollars a year. What can you do about the cost dementia?

The majority of the money spent on the illness was revealed to be nursing home expenses, an adult who needs daily care from nurses will be require to spend a lot of money, many families are not prepared from the tremendous financial commitment that comes with the illness. The problem is becoming a major problem to families in the United States but the increases in the illness worldwide has seen other nations suffer from the financial burden as well. In England the NHS has admitted they are not prepared to handle the staggering increases of people being effected by the illness, what to do about dementia cost is a growing problem

This brain disease costs between $157 billion-$215 billion each year, according to a study by the nonprofit RAND. Although treatments for other illnesses like drugs for HIV and cancer are expensive, no drug can really treat dementia, and the day-to-day costs of caring for a patient are very expensive. Medications don't come cheap and even those who opt to take care of their ailing parent at home must deal with lost time at work and frequent emergencies. It is a 24 hour a day job, waiting on the drug makers is a huge mistake, there is not a drug that stops the punishing effects of the illness, waiting on big billion dollar pharmaceutical companies is where so many lose the fight
